Conference Venue The conference centre with a uniquely styled meeting venue with a private kitchen and toilet facilities. Seats 20 people comfortably in a schoolroom arrangement and 30 in a cinema configuration. DirectionsFrom the N1 (Johannesburg-Polokwane Freeway)
(Important: Coming from direction Johannesburg, do not continue straight on to Pretoria - watch the road signs and follow the N1 in the direction "Pietersburg").
Leave the N1 at exit no. 130 (Botha Avenue). At the bottom of the off ramp, turn in the direction "Irene". (Info. Panel indicates Smuts House Museum). Turn right at the first street (Alexandra Road) and continue to the second stop sign. At this point the road veers to the left and becomes Albert road. Continue until just before the next stop sign. Bastion guesthouse will be on your left - No. 55. The house is built of stone and has a yellow roof. The entrance is next to the stone tower. Ring the bell to gain entry.
2. From the O.R Tambo International Airport
Take the R21 motorway from the airport in the direction Pretoria. After traveling some 30 km on this road, exit to the left on road M31 which is signposted "Nelmapius Drive - M31" & "Irene". Continue up and over the hill (Cornwall Hill) and pass under a bridge at the bottom of this hill. Cross the 4-way stop just after this and continue until you reach the second traffic circle at wich point you turn right into Albert Road. Cross the 4-way stop at the Irene shopping center (Nelmapius road), across another stop sign and continue until you reach a low traffic circle at which you turn right into Albert Road. Continue along Albert Road until you pass the 2nd (4-way) stop sign. Immediately after this you will see Bastion Guesthouse on your right - No. 55. The house is built of stone and has a yellow roof and black wooden gates. The entrance is next to the stone tower. Ring the bell to gain entry.
3. From Natal and Free State
When leaving the N3, take the N1 motorway in the direction Pretoria and proceed as described in 1. above.
This map is intended to help you gain entry to parking under shade of Chatham Road which is inside the Irene security area. (Chatham road is a 1-way road out of Irene and may not be entered from Albert Road).
Enter Queen Street from Alexandra Road (Panel marked:"Entrance Irene"). Continue until the 4th street (Chatham) and turn right. Drive right to the last house on your right - no. 46. Park here but please do not obstruct the gate with the COIN SECURITY panel on it (see notice: No parking at any time) |
